T: Good morning, everyone! Look at the screen please, what can you see on the screen?(老师:大家早上好!请看屏幕,你能够在屏幕上看到什么?

S: There are some people smoking. (学生:有一些人在吸烟)

T:Now guess what may be the reasons of smoking.(老师:现在猜一猜吸烟的原因)

S: Reduce pressure.(学生:缓解压力)

S:it is cool(学生:很酷)

S:Popular actors do it(学生:受欢迎的影星抽烟)

T: Yes, there are so many reasons for smoking?  But we all know smoking is very harmful .So do you know what are the harm of smoking?(老师:是的,有很多原因导致吸烟,但是我们知道吸烟室有害的,所以你知道吸烟有什么样的危害吗?)

S: Smoking is harmful to our health. It can cause cancer.(学生:吸烟对身体有害身体健康,吸烟能导致癌症。)

S: Smoking can make smokers cough badly.(学生:吸烟能导致吸烟者严重地咳嗽)       

S: Smoking can pollute our environment. Because when people smoke, much smoke that can pollute the air will be given out.(学生:吸烟污染环境。因为当人们吸烟的时候,释放出来很多污染空气的烟雾)

S: I dont smoke, for it is harmful not only to our own health but also to the health of the people around us.(学生:我不吸烟,因为吸烟不仅对我们自己的身体有害,并且会危害到我们周围的人的健康。)     

T: Good jobs. Since there are so many disadvantages of smoking, we should not smoke. If our family members are smokers, we should try to persuade them not to smoke. Only by doing this can we have a healthy body and a clear environment to live in.  (老师:做的不错。因为吸烟有很多危害,所以我们不应该吸烟。如果我们家庭有人吸烟,我们应该劝说他们不要吸烟。只有这样做,我们才能够有一个健康的身体和干净的居住环境。)

 

T:Now,look at this pictures. What is it?(老师:现在,看下面这些图片,它们都是什么?)

    

S: It is a flower. (学生:是花)

T: What is the name of these flowers?(老师:这些花的名字是什么呢?)

T: What is this kind of flowers used for?(老师:这种话是用来做什么的?)

S: They are used for making drugs.(学生:他们被用来制毒)

T: Yes, the flower is very beautiful. But if we use it in an incorrect way, it will become a kind of poison. Look at another three pictures on the screen.(老师:是的,这些花非常漂亮。但是如果我们用不正确的方式使用它,那么它将变成一种毒药。看屏幕上的另外三张图片)

T:Good job. Now what does the woman  in the third picture look like?(老师:很好!现在看第三张图片的女子,她看起来像怎么样?)

 

S: She changed a lot.(学生:她变了很多)

T: Why did she change so much?(老师:她为什么变化很大?)

S: I guess she suffers a lot from drugs.(学生:我猜她遭受了很多毒品的伤害)

T: Yes, if a man takes drugs, he will become thinner and thinner till he dies. All in all, taking drugs can be very harmful. For one thing, drug-taking does great damage to the health of drug users .For another, some drug users commit robbery  or even murder their parents and relatives to get money to buy drugs , which poses a great threat to the social security and the social stability. (老师:是的,如果一个人吸毒,他将会变得越来越瘦直到最终死去。总之,吸毒是非常有害的。一方面,吸毒有害吸毒者的身体健康。另一方面,有些吸毒者为了得到买毒品的钱去抢劫甚至杀害自己的父母或亲戚,这些行为对社会的安全和稳定是极大的威胁。)

Step II Reading(阅读)

T: Good morning / afternoon, boys and girls. Yesterday we talked about the disadvantages of smoking. Among those smokers there are many young men. Why is cigarette so attractive?(老师:同学们,早上好/下午好。昨天我们讨论了吸烟的坏处。在这些吸烟者中,有很多年轻的男性,为什么吸烟有如此大的吸引力呢?)

S: Because in the cigarette there is a substance called cocaine. This kind of thing can make people addicted to it.(学生:因为香烟含有会使人上瘾的名叫可卡因的物质)

T: You are right. Then do you know more about cocaine?(老师:回答正确。那么你们对于可卡因还了解些什么?)

S: It is a powerfully addictive drug and can make people feel energetic for a short period of time.(学生:它是一种使人强烈上瘾的毒品,能使人短时间内感觉精神抖擞)

T: How do you know this?(老师:你是怎么知道这个的?)

S: I have ever read a passage introducing cocaine in a newspaper.(学生:我曾经在报纸读过一篇关于可卡因的文章。)

T: Good. I think all of you have heard about the harm done by cocaine to people. The most serious result is that it can cause people to die. Around you are there any people using drugs?(老师:很好。我相信大家都听说过可卡因对人的危害。最严重的结果是它能导致人死亡。在你身边有人吸毒吗?)

S: No, we havent seen such people ourselves. We only see people using drugs on TV and in the newspaper.(学生:我们没有见到过这样的人,我们只在电视上或者报纸上看到有人吸毒)

T: Im very glad to hear that. We should keep away from drugs. Now please open your books and turn to page 12. Look at the words. I will give you five minutes to discuss the meanings of them.(老师:我们高兴听到这样。我们应该远离毒品。现在请把书翻到12页。看这些单词的意思,5分钟的时间讨论这些单词的意思)

After five minutes, make sure the Ss have mastered these words. Then give them two minutes to finish Activity 3 by themselves.5分钟后,确保学生都掌握了这些单词。然后让学生用2分钟完成第3部分练习。)

Skimming(略读)

T: Now look at the picture. From the expression of the man can you tell me whats the matter with him?(老师:现在请看这张图片,从这个人的表情,你知道这个人怎么了吗?)

T: Do you know why he is unhappy?(老师:你知道他为什么不开心吗?)

S: Perhaps he is addicted to the drugs. (学生:可能他对毒品上瘾)

T: Very good. In fact he is really addicted to the drugs. Are you eager to know about his experiences of becoming a drug addict and what happened to him later?(老师:很好。事实上。他确实对毒品上瘾。大家想知道他变成瘾君子的过程以及他后来又发生了什么吗?)

S: Yes.(学生:是的)

T: Well. Now lets look at Activity 2. Above the passage there are three topics, I will give you three minutes to look through Article 1 and find the topic of this passage.(老师:现在让我们看到第二部分,对于上文,这儿有三个话题,你们有3分钟时间浏览文章1,然后找到这篇文章的话题)

After three minutes, ask some students to share their answers.3分钟后,要求学生去分享他们的答案)

S: I choose the first one.(学生:我选择第一个)

Ss: Yes.(学生:是的)

T: Very good. Since you have known what Article 1 talks about, I will give you 10 minutes to look through Activity 4 and find which parts in Activity 4 belong to Article 1.(老师:很好,因为大家已经知道了文章1谈论的内容,给大家10分钟去读第四部分,然后找出第四部分中哪个内容属于文章1)

After 10 minutes, check the answers.10分钟后,检查学生答案)

T: Now, look through Article 2 and choose a best topic for it from the two topics left. Then read through Activity 4 again and decide which parts belong to Article 2.

T: Quite right. Since you have known the relation between Article 1, Article 2 and the parts in Activity 4, I will give you six minutes to read Article 1 and Parts 2, 3, 5 && 6 and then Article 2 and Parts 1 & 4.(老师:非常正确。因为大家已经知道了文章1和文章2的关系,我给大家6分钟去阅读文章1和第2,3,5,6部分已经文章2和第1,4部分)

Careful Reading(精读)

Now, please read the whole text. Then I will ask you several questions about the writing characteristics.(现在,请大家阅读整篇文章,然后我会问几个关于文章写作特点的问题)

T: Times up. Who would like to tell me the structure of the text?(老师:时间到了,谁能告诉我这篇文章的结构?)

S: Let me have a try. The whole text is a brief introduction of the harm of smoking. The text can be divided into two parts. One part uses an example of a drug addict to give a live instruction of the influence of the cocaine. The other part introduces cocaine and its harmful influence.(学生:让我试一下,整篇文章是对吸烟的危害的简要介绍。本文能够被分成两个部分。第一部分用一个瘾君子的例子对可卡因的影响做出了生动的介绍。另一部分介绍了可卡因及其危害。)

T: Very good. Then what is the main idea of the text?(老师:很好。本文的主要思想是什么呢?)

S: The text is about the harm of cocaine. Cocaine is a powerfully addictive drug. Once you are addicted to it, you cant live without it. Adam Rouse, a 19-year-old boy, used to be a drug addict. In order to buy drugs, he broke into house for money and was arrested by police. At last, he stopped using drugs and helped others stop taking drugs.(学生:本文是主要是讲述了可卡因的危害。可卡因是强烈的容易上瘾的毒品。一旦你对可卡因上瘾,你将难易离开它。亚当,一个十九岁的男孩,过去是一名瘾君子。为了购买毒品,他闯入别人家偷东西,后来也被捕了。最后,他不再吸毒并且帮助其他人戒毒。)

T: You have done a good job. The last question: What is the writers purpose of writing this text?(老师:非常好。最后一个问题:作者写这篇文章的目的是什么?)

S: Through a brief description of a 19-year-old boy’s smoking experiences and a short introduction of cocaine and its harmful influence, the writer warns the students not to smoke and keep away from drugs.(通过对一个19岁男孩吸烟经历的简要描述和可卡因和其危害的简短介绍,作者警告同学们不要吸烟并且要远离毒品)

Ss: From the text, we have known that drugs are very harmful to our health. We should keep away from drugs and live a healthy life. The most important thing is that not only should we ourselves keep away from cigarettes and drugs but also we should help others not smoke and use drugs.(从这边文章中,我们知道了毒品是非常有害我们健康了。我们应该远离毒品,过一个健康的生活,最重要的是,我们不仅自己要远离香烟,并且还要帮助其他门不要吸烟或吸毒。)

Step III  Exercise and Homework:Writing(练习和家庭作业)

The purpose of this writing is to let the Ss talk about the problem of taking drugs in China. Through asking and answering questions, the Ss can learn something about the situation of taking drugs in China and how to keep away from the drug.(这次写作的目的是让学生去谈论在中国吸毒的问题。通过提出问题和回答问题,让学生了解中国目前吸毒的现状并且学会怎么远离毒品。)

T: We have learned something about drugs in this module. Heres a table about the reasons of taking drugs. Look through it quickly and Ill divide you into groups of four. Each group should discuss the reasons and harms of taking drugs. (老师:大家已经在本单元中学习了毒品的知识。这儿有一个关于吸毒的危害的表。快速地浏览这张表,然后你们将分成4个小组。每个小组应该讨论吸毒的原因和危害。)

Walk around the classroom to help them if necessary. After a few minutes.(教室四处走动去帮助学生。几分钟后)

T: Have you finished?(老师:大家完成了吗?)

Ss: Yes.(学生:是的)

T: Now Ill ask some groups to present your description.(现在要求各个小组来呈现你们的表述)

The trade of drugs is widespread, which costs up to $800 billion every year.

    As we all know, drugs do great harm to our health, even causing people to die at an early age. Meanwhile, it directly contributes to the happening of crimes. But to our sadness, more and more young people begin taking drugs.

    As is shown on the chart above, 30% of the teenagers taking drugs are cheated into doing it, and 50% are driven by curiosity. Another 15% just seek excitement or try to get rid of their anxiety. The rest try it for some other reasons.

毒品的贸易非常广泛,每年会花费高达800美元。

众所周知,毒品对人的身体健康非常有害,甚至会导致人早逝。同时,它也会直接导致犯罪行为的发生。但是,让我们悲哀的是,越来越多的年轻人还是吸毒。

正如上表显示,30%的青少年都是被骗去吸毒的,然而50%的青少年吸毒是出于好奇。另外还有15%的人是为了寻求刺激或者是为了摆脱焦虑而去吸毒。还有其他的人吸毒出于一些其他的理由。
